![]() He continued to blossom in the season just gone, notching 17 Serie A goals as Inter claimed their first league title for over a decade. Such was the nature of his performances that an almost inevitable transfer saga involving Barcelona came and went in the summer of 2020, with Lautaro ultimately remaining in Italy. Lautaro impressed with his intelligence, as well as his pace and dribbling ability, and appeared to have few weaknesses in his all-round game despite his young age. The “LuLa” partnership was born and Lautaro hit 21 goals across all competitions as Inter finished just a point behind Juventus in the race for the Scudetto. The arrivals of Antonio Conte and Lukaku triggered a change in system for Inter, and his emergence as a force in Serie A. It was at the start of his second season in Italy when things started to click for Lautaro. Lautaro quickly became a first-team regular as Mauro Icardi fell out with the club hierarchy, but only managed six league goals in his debut campaign. Lautaro has starred for Inter since joining them as a 20-year-old from Racing Club in his native Argentina. Inter just need an acceptable offer on the table for a deal to be done. Sources have indicated, though, that Lautaro would be a simple deal for Arsenal in terms of negotiating with his club. Tammy Abraham is another name under consideration. They have tracked Alexander Isak but he has signed a new contract with Real Sociedad. That would almost certainly be Eddie Nketiah and possibly Lacazette. They have long been considering options at No 9 but an addition has always been somewhat contingent on departures. Arsenal had a plan entering the window but there has always been an acceptance that in a volatile market, unexpected opportunities may present themselves. ![]()
